Note: This post is mostly about religion. So, if you are offended by thought provoking questions that aren’t frequently asked about religion, please don’t read this. The purpose of this post is for me to find answers to my questions, and not to offend anyone’s religion or religious beliefs.First of all, I’m not the best candidate to start this discussion. Yes, I am a muslim, but I don’t pray as much as I should, and I don’t have enough knowledge to discuss complex issues about religion. I sometimes try to discuss some issues that get me thinking. Whenever I start these “taboo” discussions, I’m bombarded by replies like “this is haram, you shouldn’t talk about this.” Or “these questions were never meant to be asked, so don’t ask them.” Or my personal favorite “astaghfur allah!!! This is kufur!!” … when in fact, I haven’t read anything (up till this date) that says it’s a sin to talk about this. Let’s start, shall we?
Evolution
As Robin Williams said in his stand up comedy act describing a conversation between someone and a religious Christian: “do you think that when God said ‘let there be light’ he was referring to the big bang?”… “No… God just went ‘click’ (as in flicking a light switch)”… It’s funny, but at the same time sad. All what muslims know about evolution is that Darwin said that we are monkeys! They left out everything else and said that we are monkeys… very mature. Evolution is a reality… if you want proof, get some bacteria and watch them evolve week after week. With us humans, it’s a bit slower. My question is that, if Adam and Eve were sent down from heaven… does that necessarily mean that there wasn’t some form of primate evolving into man and the first evolved primates were actually Adam and Eve?
I once asked one of my close friends this question, and he got FURIOUS!! The first sentence he said after I asked that question was “ASTAGHFUR ALLAH AL ATHEEM!!!!” eh… I believe in evolution because I can see it in front of my eyes.
Culture and fateWe all know that the 3 “heavenly” religions are Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. To my knowledge, all of the prophets that sent the message of those religions live in the same environment (harsh, desert, full of poverty)… why weren’t those religions scattered in different regions? Why were they given to the “weak” and outnumbered? And if God knew that jews were gonna forge the Torah, and Christians were gonna forge the bible, but muslims can never forge the quran, then why didn’t God send down Islam and the Quran before any other religion and just give people a CLEAR sign that this is the only religion and you should follow it. Most people who aren’t afraid to answer say that God wanted to test man kind, and man kind failed twice. God then sent down the religion of Islam and showed that it is the true religion and it can’t be forged. Ok, it might be clear to MUSLIMS that ISLAM is the right religion, but it’s just because we were born muslims. Other people see that it doesn’t make sense. Also, wouldn’t changing the religion or faith of people 3 times cause a lot of confusion and misguidance? I’m telling you we’re human… that’s how it is with us… we start doubting. Plus, right now, we have no clear sign from God that Islam is the true religion. I’m just stating facts here… We can believe stories in history and all the miracles that HAPPENED long ago… stories (history) is nothing but that… each side of that history has 4-20 different stories and they don’t coincide. WHY ALL THE CONFUSION???!!!! If God knows what’s going to happen anyway, why mislead some people and lead others? If Islam is the right religion, how can we show that to all the other people who are not muslim? Will they go to hell because we bomb their asses, cause terror, and give them a reason to think that we’re not God’s “chosen” people? Let me seriously ask you this, if you weren’t born a muslim… and you’re jewish or Christian or Buddhist or whatever… would you convert to islam with the shit going on today? The obvious answer is “no”. will you go to hell for that?
Islam, if it’s so clear…
Why do we have a lot of branches that believe in totally different things? Sheit, Hanbali, Shafi’i, Ismaili, Wahabi… etc. and almost everyone of those branches has transcripts to “prove” that the other branch is “wrong and they are considered infidels”.
We Sunni’s like to believe that others are that way because they hate us and they are “stubborn”. Also, we believe that Christians and Jews know that Islam is right but they are too “stubborn” to admit it. I truly don’t believe that is the case, and it’s silly to generalize that statement. We also believe that every other branch of Islam, or other religion at that matter, has a secret agenda to destroy Islam. To me, that’s just ridiculous. The world is too busy to focus on “us”. It’s a matter of power and money… that’s it. Simple. Most people choose to start a cult (religious or political or whatever) and lead them, for their own benefit(s). That’s why I think Islam got cut up into many different pieces. Please correct me if I’m wrong. Is this the case?
Hadeeth and credibilityMy father was once helping my little brother (fahad) study for his “hadeeth” exam. When something caught his eye and we had a discussion about it. The hadeeth was saheeh (correct) according to the school book. The rawi (the man who heard the prophet say it) was Abdullah ibn mas’ood (I’m not 100% sure, but this is the best of my recollection). In the rawi information section, it mentioned that he was a credible source, and that the prophet (peace be upon him) died when abdullah was only 13 years old. My question is, how is someone who is less than 13 years old be a credible source of a hadeeth? And how come some sahaba (the prophets first followers) that are over 20 years old not considered a credible source because someone else said that they were “forgetful”?
Grave tortureMy father was once in a discussion (my father has a hobby of listening to or reading the other side(s) of the story… be it political, religious, or just about an argument that happened at work) and one of his friends asked a religious person “now, if God only Judges us by what we do while we live on the day of judgement…. How come some of the sinners have to suffer in the grave before the day of judgement. Does that mean they are judged before everyone else?”… his friend just ended the discussion in the usual way anyone around here would… but now, I’m asking the same question… aren’t we all supposed to be judged in the day of judgement, and not in the grave?
Finally, placing the bets!
Ok, I’m serious when I say this to you… I want to see how you would truthfully bet on which is the most probable religion to be right according to today’s circumstances. From what I see today, I’d really think that God was helping the Jews out… I’m being truthful here and I’m not saying which religion is right or wrong… just who you’d bet on… Money, power, and total control over the media… JEWS!!!! Very smart people… they know how to manipulate everything. I’d bet on the Jews… you?
Please know that I do not want to offend anyone by this post. I just want answers. Lately I have been thinking deeply about things like this (surprisingly, when I told this exact sentence to one of my relatives, he told me that this kind of thinking would take you out of Islam… I’m not saying that this guy represents Islam, but I’m saying that there are retarded people out there who don’t want you to think for yourselves). All of this was brought up by a little sentence I found in a bodybuilding forum member’s signature of:
Question your beliefs, believe in your question.
Stay safe
