Excerpts from the Diary of a Pissed Off Bodybuilder
The new marriage/prostitution services (Misyar)
I really can’t believe that a lot of “shyookh” are saying this thing is halal. They say that interest rates in banks are “reba” (I don’t believe they are, because reba has a totally different definition to my understanding, but that’s just me) and they say you’ll burn in hell if you invest your money or open up a savings account with a CD, but it’s fine to get “married” to someone who you will have no responsibilities towards except to fuck them whenever you’re horny? I believe that’s called prostitution. Yes, it’s the same exact definition. Let’s look up the word prostitution…
1-The act or practice of engaging in sex acts for hire.
2-The act or an instance of offering or devoting one's talent to an unworthy use or cause.
Now what is misyar? It’s paying money to have a woman wait for you (that doesn’t live with you) to have sex with. And they say this is halal?
You know what the real problem is? When I ask other people about what they think, they say “man… don’t believe what those “religious scientists” say… sometimes you have to think for yourself and you’ll know that it’s wrong.” … but when I tell them about what I think about interest, which they call reba, they say “NO!!! IT’S HARAM!!! ALL THE SHYOOKH SAY IT’S HARAM SO IT MUST BE HARAM!!!” … what happened to think for yourself?
This act kind of tells you something about our society. Come to your own conclusion.
Even when you’re married!!!
A “3askari” stopped me at a check point while I was driving back home with my wife… and guess what? He asked me for my family card so I could prove that she’s my wife. Seriously, this shit is getting way out of hand. I was tired, worn out, I didn’t want to argue, so I just said “what? Do I have to carry my family card wherever I go?” and the idiot said “yes… how can we know that she’s your wife?” … I’m positive this is going to happen again, sometime soon. I have a plan… next time I’ll just say she’s not my wife and I’m taking her out to my place and we’re gonna do the nasty. When the ass hole causes trouble, I’ll just go to his superior and say that she’s my wife, here’s the proof, and this guy wanted her to step out of the car to feel her up.
I’ll keep you updated if I run into that situation…
Why people hate us (muslims)
Recently I read a couple of threads on a forum called www.discussworldissues.com . In the past, I used to get offended when muslims were being bashed and our religion was being insulted. Then I realized that we are doing this to ourselves. Go to Europe, who are the most people causing problems there and sexually harassing women? Go to the United States, who are the people who cause most fights in clubs, bring 200 children and let them run around the street unsupervised and beat up their wives (not saying Americans don’t do that, but we always accuse them of this and in the end, we do it), and run a lot of liquor stores around poor neighborhoods? You don’t have to go far… come down here and see how we act. Most of the replies from muslims on this issue are just yelling and screaming and what not. Yes, there are few who can represent islam and our culture in a good manner… but 99% are uncivilized monkeys. The good muslims (and good people) are the ones who say “Islam isn’t like that, and not all of us are like this… you’re only looking at the bad examples”… ok… they are looking at the bad examples… but that’s the majority of the muslim population. I’m speaking from personal experience here. I’m in a 100% muslim country (yeah right), and I see how we treat each other every day. We don’t respect other people. We aren’t kind to animals. We don’t have women’s rights. We don’t have fair businesses. We don’t have “equality”. The only thing we do as muslims are pray and read the quran… that’s it. We didn’t learn anything from it. I’m sorry but that’s just my point of view. And worst of all… I really hate to say this… but we condemn independent thinking (that’s what I call it)… there are things you aren’t supposed to discuss OR EVEN THINK ABOUT!!! If you don’t know what I mean, good, let’s keep it that way. But this issue has always bothered me. My cousins are EXTREMELY religious. I sometimes ask them questions (especially when I was younger), those questions were kinda “prohibited” … all they had to say was “THIS IS HARAM!!! YOU SHOULDN’T EVEN BE ASKING THOSE QUESTIONS!!! IT’S HARAM TO EVEN THINK ABOUT THAT!!!” … and the dumbest answer of all is “our minds can’t comprehend it” … maybe your mind can’t because you’re an idiot.
Sorry if I offended anyone… but if you don’t like what I say, get off my blog
Anyway… This is what I’m doing at the moment
I’m thinking of getting married by way of misyar… no no… I’m just kidding!! (wallah I’m kidding honey…) I’ve decided to widen my horizon (and by horizon, I don’t mean my ass), and I’ve asked Faisal Al-Olaiw for help. He’s training me now, and…. Fuck!! OLD SCHOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Training that is. Nutrition is a bit overboard. I’m eating 11 meals at the moment, and I feel fine (small meals around 300 cals per meal). He told me about that blood type book and it helped with regards to bloating. I don’t feel bloated until I eat my last meal… after that I’m ok. My weight hasn’t changed (212 lbs) and I’m getting leaner. My diet consists of chicken, tuna, cod fish, whey isolate protein, black beans, pineapples, rice, natural peanut butter, olive oil, grapefruit juice, grape juice, and fish oil. The whole point of using these different kinds of foods is to allow my body to absorb the nutrients more efficiently. I’m using lots of supplements and doing a lot of high intensity cardio. I don’t expect miracles to happen, but hopefully faisal will walk me through the whole year with all the 2007/2008 contests… and then I’ll be done with that crap. In my heart, I don’t want to quit competing. I love the feeling I get on stage, even if I lose. But contests have taken so much out of my life… man… it’s just too hard, you know? I want to spend a couple of years going out with my wife and friends not worrying about having to eat that chicken in my container at 3 pm… or not eating any carbs on Monday cuz it’s my low carb day… or telling my friends “sorry, I can’t go out. I have to wake up at 4:00 am to do cardio”… or beat the shit outta myself at the gym everyday and become too tired to even stand up, let alone go out and have fun. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still gonna eat healthy (well, not healthy healthy, but bodybuilder healthy) most of the time when I’m at work. Still gonna train (not as hard though)… but I’m not gonna take it seriously anymore… for a couple of years ;)
To all my clients
I’m sorry I didn’t have enough time this week to chit chat… but it’s been a really… really… really bad week for me. I promise I’ll be more available next week.

First of all, it’s nice to see someone expressing their point of view in a polite manner. Thanks for the great comments and I just wish you would’ve written it in English, so that the non-arabic speakers could understand what you said.
As for your first comment, I wasn’t comparing between the two issues as issues. I was comparing how people listen to the sheikh and obey in certain issues, and then they think he’s way out of line when he talks about other issues (and as you said, they are the ones with the religious knowledge and not us).
About “reba”, I don’t want to go into this issue in detail because it’ll cause a lot of conflict and it might get a bit ugly… I have enough crap going on in my blog and I don’t want more (I’ve deleted MANY posts and you don’t even want to know what was written there). But, the way I see it, I look at what “reba” was 1400 years ago, and I look at it now. I don’t see them as being the same. Plus, if they are the same, then all the “Islamic” banking is based on “reba” but it is so complicated and goes through so many loop holes in religion, that it’s basically the same as other banks but with more hassle. When you take a loan, you return more than it’s worth. When you “invest” your money with them, you get more without losing your capital. It’s the same exact thing… but the difference is that the “Islamic” banking is halal and others are haram. I don’t want to go into further detail because, as I said, it will turn into a big religious debate on this blog and I don’t want that to happen.
And yes, I agree. Shyookh are only human. They make mistakes like anyone else. But it wouldn’t hurt to say “I don’t know”. Yes, they have a tremendous amount of knowledge in religion, but most of them don’t know anything about any other subject.
As for verses in the Quran, They are all right, and we should follow them exactly… but let’s be frank here… there has been a lot of conflict about meanings of words and verses in the Quran because they weren’t very clear. If they were crystal clear, we wouldn’t have any conflicting opinions about what they mean. That is all I will say about this issue.
Regarding people who blindly follow other cultures and societies because they think it’s “cool”, I agree, that’s a problem we are facing around here. But let’s be frank here… most of these people are idiots either they followed other cultures or they didn’t. The problems we have in our society did not come from “the west”, they did not come from “religious differences”, they did not come from TV… they were here 2000 years ago… the same problems… I admit, we are getting a bit better as a society… but in my opinion, we’re still one of the worst. Again, this is my personal opinion and I don’t mean to offend anyone personally. If you think I judge people (personally) by their background, you are wrong my friend. I judge people by how they treat me and treat others. The majority of the population I see outside… very uncivilized and extremely rude and judgmental…
