A young Saudi Arabian woman was murdered by her father for chatting on the social network site Facebook, it has emerged.
The unnamed woman from Riyadh was beaten and shot after she was discovered in the middle of an online conversation with a man, the al-Arabiya website reported.
The case was reported on a Saudi Arabian news site as an example of the 'strife' the social networking site is causing in the Islamic nation.

Saudi preacher Ali al-Maliki has emerged as the leading critic of Facebook, claiming the network is corrupting the youth of the nation.
'Facebook is a door to lust and young women and men are spending more on their mobile phones and the Internet than they are spending on food,' he said.
The woman was murdered in August but her death was highlighted following Maliki's comments.
Social customs and religious rules oblige women in Saudi Arabia to cover their head and figure with a veil so that men are not distracted by the female form.
Critics also allege that Facebook is an avenue for the promotion of homosexual relations in Saudi Arabia. More than 6,500 people have signed the online petition in a bid to stop the conservative Muslim kingdom following Syria in banning access to the network from local internet servers.
There are estimated to be more than 30,000 Facebook users in the oil-rich kingdom. Many Saudi women use nicknames and post comic images or drawings on their pages instead of photographs. Some Saudi bloggers have dubbed the network 'Faceless'.
Women users' contact details and email addresses are often pseudonymous. The popularity of sites for singles has broken taboos on people making contact outside family and class connections.
One of the most popular Facebook groups among Saudi Arabian youth is Single and Looking in Saudi Arabia, which has 1,823 members and hosts many sexually explicit images.

Al-Arabiya: “Preacher demands blocking of Facebook due to Saudi women access...”
Mideast Wire http://www.arabmediasociety.com/arab_media_wire/?item=654On March 26, the Saudi-owned Al-Arabiya.net news website carried the following report by Naser al-Qahtani: “A Saudi Islamic preacher demanded that Facebook be blocked in his country and considered it to be a door to lust. He warned against “the accession of women to it” after young Saudi women have started to join the famous website and post “revealing pictures and bad behavior” on it. On the other hand, a Saudi female journalist considered that the blocking of the website would be pointless since other similar ones will continue to emerge on a regular basis. Renowned Islamic preacher in the Kingdom, Sheikh Ali al-Maliki, said to Al-Arabiya.net that Facebook was a western means to corrupt the youth of the nation... “He added: “Facebook is a door to lust and young women and men are spending more on their mobile phones and the Internet, than they are spending on food.” He then reiterated the necessity to block the website in Saudi Arabia to prevent strife. For her part, journalist Hidaya Darwich said to Al-Arabiya.net that Facebook had become a media phenomenon on the net, but that the decision to ban it did not mean that “our young women have been spared from the threat since we will soon start to read about websites which are similar to Facebook”. She assured that everyone in the Kingdom was proud of his religion, and added: “However, this does not mean that young women who are using the Internet should be perceived as lesser than others. Not all women are alike and not all of them are perverted.” “On the other hand, young Saudi women assured Al-Arabiya.net that Facebook was another way for them to express their feelings and build friendships with young women from all around the world. They continued that it granted them the opportunity to learn about different customs and traditions... Others stated that Saudi women suffered as a result to their presence on such websites, since they sometimes found mocking or insulting comments mostly written by extremists who browsed these websites and pages. Others recognized they had become addicted to the website and formed new relations and friendships through it... “A number of engineers following this issue, said to Al-Arabiya.net that some Saudi young women posted on their profile pages revealing pictures of them or pictures that they chose, and behaved badly after their relations through these pages evolved into web-cam calls or communication through instant messenging or mobile phones. They added there were also pages for homosexual relations and especially lesbian relations. Last August, the capital Riyadh had witnessed the murder of a young woman by her father, after he came into her room and saw she was chatting with a young man she met on Facebook. Security sources assured Al-Arabiya.net that the father beat up his daughter then shot her.” - Al-Arabiya.net, Middle East
......
ok... here are my comments, and this is my personal opinion.
First of all, this is not surprising at all, and to me, it's not even news. To me, a real news story would be "Wife gets fed up of husband beating her senseless, and shoots him in the nuts", or "daughter finally had enough of molestation from drunk father and shoots him in the nuts"... things like that... that would be new! and interesting... this is the same old shit we hear and see every god damn day. grab a bucket of popcorn, a diet coke, sit in rashid mall, and just watch... look at how fathers treat daughters, husbands treat wives, brothers treat sisters... we truly are a peaceful society... BWAHAHAHHAHAHHAH!!! we are the MOST PERVERTED, VIOLENT, SEXUALLY ORIENTED SOCIETY IN THE WORLD!!! WAKE THE FUCK UP PEOPLE!!! especially women... you should wake the fuck up... this whole "cover yourself up, because then, you will protect yourselves from the human wolves!!!" and women actually fucking buy it. this whole abaya crap and hijab, neqab... what the fuck ever... really, it's just a scam. seriously, people are too dumb to see through it. i never wanted to mention this because i knew i would get shit, but now i don't care. We (men) are only forcing you to do it as a means of control. We (arab men) see women as inferior and sex objects. nothing more... well, actually we see you as slaves too, but that's a given. you talk, you move, you sneeze, you look without our consent, we will kill you. hijab, neqab, abaya... what have you... never protected any woman from anything. let me tell you this, and tell me if i'm wrong or right...
a british woman wearing stretch pants with her ass all up in there, high heels that clack so loud you can hear them a mile away, full fucking make up, and tits almost falling off her XXXXS shirt... a saudi woman wearing an abaya with a hejab and a little bit of her hair is showing...
who will arab men look at and try to harass?
it's because arab women are below us... we see them as filth and something that serves us and for us to play with. this is how we've been seeing them since the begining of time. this is why we have no laws to protect them... because we don't want to empower them.
Personally, i see nothing wrong with women whoring themselves out, looking for men, trying to get laid, chatting online and posting pictures of their asses and tits... they want to do it... let them... they want to post pictures of themselves in nice fancy clothes and little cute smile to find a decent guy out there who actually gives a shit about her... fine... let them do whatever they want... but to us arabs, if a woman shows her face (and i'm being serious here and i'm telling you how the majority of arabs think), she is asking to get raped. "if i only talk to her and give her my number and maybe pinch her ass, i'm actually doing her a favor by not giving her what she wants, because it'll bring shame to her family if i do."
and for those who will start saying "if islam was strong in them, they wouldn't do this"... yes they would... even if islam was strong in them... i don't care what you say... i'm not a very good muslim... i'll tell you this frankly... not a very religious person... at all!!! but i have fucking morals. i see a half naked woman on tv, i say "hey... nice ass" then i change the channel to a comedy show or shit. other people, whom i know personally and are "religious", you know the kind... and when they see a lebanese whore on tv dancing, they go fucking nuts and start spewing some nasty shit about what they want to do to her... I know people who get scared shitless if they are late for prayer... and after they finish prayer, they go out cruising trying to harass women on the street.
it's not about religion... it's about moral. we aren't raised very well. We are raised with the notion that we are very bad beings, and that god is the only one who will save us... but when some people forget that god is watching, they remember what was said about them being bad creatures. I swear to you that if god came down to earth and told everyone that he will not be watching or judging any of their actions in the next 24 hours... what would you think would happen in all muslim countries? havoc, right?
what would you think will happen in other countries that aren't very religious? ... nothing will change.
my main point?
women are fucked in the arab world, men are filthy in the arab world, religion has nothing to do with how we act, and finally: people who think we will change in the future to the better?... they really crack me up!!!
let's forget about bodybuilding for a second...
and focus on what most people want... WEIGHT LOSS!!!...
Lately, i have been pretty tolerant with clients who don't have the same ideas i do about putting some effort in to build a good body... but what i couldn't understand is why they want weight loss. i'm looking for your help here. Why are people more concerned about losing a certain amount of weight, or seeing the scale move than how they actually look in the mirror? I mean, ok, if you want to lose weight and drop the lbs, i could help you do that... infact, it's save me a lot of trouble. I won't have to think about all the ratios, calories, techniques... etc. It's the easiest thing to do... but why would anyone want to look like that?
In recent posts, i talked about burning fat and gaining muscle and how it takes a long time and all that... i got a shitload of emails and most of them were saying that they don't believe it would take that long because their friend lost 25 lbs in a month and is still losing weight. I usually answer in the form of questions, like:
"how much muscle did he keep?"
"did he/she maintain a good shoulder/waist/hip ratio?"
"did he/she actually get leaner, or just lost weight and looked smaller?"
dig down deep inside you... find out why you are unhappy about your "weight"... is it really weight you are unhappy about? or the way you look?
let's face it, human instinct would tell you that you should have a GOOD LOOKING BODY to attract the opposite sex.... to be "unique"... to "stand out between a crowd"... all of this in a good way...
Although bodybuilders are a minority in the "working out society", fitness and figure women are an even larger minority group. and this is why when you tell a woman to workout out with weights, she immediately imagines that she'd look like a female bodybuilding steroid freak.
for women... do a google image search on the following:
mercedes khani
this is what a fitness figure who lifts weights and diets seriously looks like. this is offseason mode and not contest mode. in contests, they use anabolics to get to seriously low bodyfat levels, which usually doesn't attract men
Jamie eason
another fitness competitor who is well known. this is what it usually looks like if a woman is fit and stays very lean offseason (EXTREMELY HARD TO DO)
Monica brant
this is what a genetically gifted fitness figure would look like when she uses anabolics to get a lot of size (this is considered big for most women) and she stays lean all year round.
this is what i mean by being "fit"... this is what happens when you weight train for years seriously while maintaining a diet fit for your goals. i have never seen, or heard of a "normal" woman who can put up with that kind of diet and training. usually they say "i don't want to look like that"... wh othe fuck are you kidding? ... what you should say is "fuck that, i'm not gonna bust my ass that hard. i want something easy. I can't work hard."
Most women convince themselves that they want to be "thin", because all you have to do is stick your finger in your throat after a meal from burger king, and you're set! don't get me wrong, they want to work hard, but they don't want to put effort in working hard. it's very hard to eat 1/4 of a lettuce everyday... the hunger pains are awful... but there's no effort in that... it's much harder to eat 6 meals per day, and workout 6 hours per week. do you get what i'm saying here?
women are usually very picky about food... they don't eat anything that doesn't involve chocolate, sugar, bieng fried, or mayonnaise. they don't eat chicken breasts, they don't eat lean beef, they don't eat tuna, they don't eat any other kind of fish, they don't eat more than 1 egg per week, they don't like whey protein... and they think it's easy to diet. starving themselves is a better alternative.
and finally, the media has fucked up womens concepts of dieting and fitness... where paris hilton, nichole richie, and victoria beckham are the epitomy of being fit and having a gorgeous body... you have to change the way you think. but if you want to be thin and you don't know how to go about it.. it's easy... really... doesn't take much work... but to look fit and "sexy"... takes A LOT OF HARD WORK!!!
on to men
If you read my previous posts, you'd know my thoughts about how men want to convince themselves that weight training, high protein, and supplementation are very bad for your health... add to that the fact that they have "no time" to workout or diet (i think you know my stance on this)... and the fact that "bodybuilders are ugly and women hate them"...
let's address the fact of "women hate bodybuilders"...
A skinny dude, fit dude, big bodybuilder, and obese dude are walking side by side... let's say they all have ugly ass faces and all of them are shit broke... a group of women walk past them... who will the women look at? who will grab their attention?
another situation
let's say you are skinny, or a bit overweight... and you know for a fact that women like men who look like that because muscles are gross... now, you decide to workout and you like it... you evolve... you become a bodybuilder... you get bigger... stronger... leaner... you hit the 220 lb mark with abs and 20" arms... now go ask your girlfriend, wife, or whatever... "should i quit and just go back to the way i was?" .... the answer will show you the truth... (ofcourse, people can argue that if she loved you, it wouldn't matter... but, let's face it... this is life... it does matter... money matters more, but you know what i mean ;))
let's address the fact that there's no time to workout
If you have time to take a dump for 20 minutes, you can make time to workout. i'm being serious here. you can make time for anything, no matter how busy you think you are. IF YOU WANT IT BAD, YOU WILL MAKE TIME!!! if you are still saying "no way, i don't have time... at all!!!!!" it means you don't want to do it... good for you... now stop focusing on you body image and focus on something else... if you want it bad, and you still say "i don't have time", then my friend, you are just plain lazy and have no will power.
weight training, high protein... etc is bad for your health
what a crock of shit. you woudn't know good from bad if it hit you in the forehead. This is just another excuse for being lazy.
Big bodybuilders
I agree that being "freaky huge" like IFBB pros is not attractive at all. but you also have to keep in mind that it isn't attainable, at all!!! On top of having rare genetical traits, you have to use boatloads of steroids... i'm talking enough to kill elephants :) ... no one is willing to do that unless they want to make a living out of it, and it's not a very good living, might i add.
To the average person, i am pretty big. lots of people keep telling me "don't get bigger. you look awesome now. if you get bigger, you'll look ugly"... most people who know me personally and how i train and work hard tell me "i want to get bigger, but not as big as you", they only say that because they know how hard it is. for the past 7 years i have been busting my ass day in and day out to get "freaky big"... i just can't do it... i won't convince myself that i can't do it, but deep inside, i know i don't have the genetics. I have average genetics for size, and below average genetics for symmetry... still, a lot of people in the gym ask me "what can i do to get as big as you?"... they ask this before they know what the hell i did to get this big. don't get me wrong here, i don't want to come off as a show off when i look like shit compared to other bodybuilders... but my whole point is that people think that the way i look (size) is what a lot of them want and don't consider "ugly"... you know from my posts how hard i've worked and for how long... why would people think that by working hard for a year they'd be ugly-huge? again, i don't mean to show off, but i've never personally known anyone who worked as hard as i did for my physique, except for bandar. and most men are "afraid" that they might suddenly wake up after a week of half assed training looking like ronnie coleman.
for men and women out there...
LIFT HEAVY
EAT HEALTHY
AND MAKE THE GYM A PRIORITY
you will like the results...

My God I wanted to wait til I read the whole thing but this really got into my nurves...WTF is wrong with those people...I dont use facebook much cuz its a pain in the butt...but I wont let something as stupid as "Ali al-Maliki, said to Al-Arabiya.net that Facebook was a western means to corrupt the youth of the nation" yes people...thats how dumb we are...we look into those people as wise and smart...that dumb and close minded idiot who wouldnt know how to answer 1+1=?
“Facebook is a door to lust and young women and men are spending more on their mobile phones and the Internet, than they are spending on food.”
F*** you...thats the result of your stupid method to spread Islam to the nation...they still wont get it that banding everything wont solve the problem!!
do you know whats really sad and f***ed up??? that I came to this conclusion when I became an adult while it was said about 60 years ago...this could've been out there to enlighten people and move to the right direction rather than going in circules...I was shocked today when I read the very few pages of Abdullah Al-Qasimi's, the guy whom they said was a Kafer and all that shit, book: هذي هي الأغلال...and I was like damn this guy is saying what I concluded and he said it a long time ago...oh and you can amagine how tuff this guy is to say such a thing back in the days!!!We could've jumped way ahead from where we are now if we heard the word of wise people...but nooooo we abanded him and everyone like him and kept this a scary thing that we shouldnt even come close to...Dman it people they have prevented his book from being sold...if you think what he said is BS and not right then why are you scared from having it around!!!This is why we are not moving!!!
That subject just makes me angry and I dont need more frustration...I'm already going through a lot trying to drop my body fat...I MISS JUNK FOOOOOOOOOOOD :"(
"young Saudi women assured Al-Arabiya.net that Facebook was another way for them to express their feelings and build friendships with young women from all around the world."
Sorry ladies you cant do that...you are in Saudi
"women are usually very picky about food... they don't eat anything that doesn't involve chocolate, sugar, bieng fried, or mayonnaise. they don't eat chicken breasts, they don't eat lean beef, they don't eat tuna, they don't eat any other kind of fish, they don't eat more than 1 egg per week, they don't like whey protein... and they think it's easy to diet. starving themselves is a better alternative."
LOL you are right.
"I agree that being "freaky huge" like IFBB pros is not attractive at all."
I totally disagree...the most beautiful human I have everseen are those gigantic mofos...not the new generation with the huge guts but rather Wolf's kind of huge...Flex kind of huge...thats the kind I'm talking about...again my opinion :D
Bander,
i recently saw a great movie that was written by steven king... "the mist" ... watch that movie... you'll know how people in saudi arabia, or any "extremely religious" country think.
I can say many things over here that will make people think twice... but i will undoubtably get my head chopped off if i do.
so, i'll just keep it simple...
thinking outside the box is taboo. if you even attempt to think outside the box, you will burn in hell for an eternity. so don't think, just listen to people who know more than you do and follow them blindly without questioning a word they say. because in the end, they are doing it for the greater good that you cannot understand. and no one can understand but them, and god.
people fear hell more than anything. and the majority of people aren't that bright or confident in what they believe or feel. end any sentence with "and if you don't, you will burn in hell cuz god said so" and you will have an army that will not even question the most absurd of commands.
we can argue day and night that "this is not the true islam and if they were following the true islamic religion, they wouldn't be doing this and the world would be perfect."
this won't change a damn thing... i can argue that the american legal system is the best legal system in the world, but criminals don't follow it. if they followed it correctly, there wouldn't be any crime in the US. so, if the whole world followed the american law system, there wouldn't be any crime in the world.
anyway, enough of that shit. we'll never change. and in a couple of years... maybe a decade or two... we'll be in deep shit.
hamad, one thing i don't get... why has nobody, ever, been able to come up with a solution to all of this? surely you are not the first generation that's not happy about the way things are...
bbq8,
it's not the whole generation that's unhappy about this. infact, people who despise this shit are a minority. people who want to be "liberal" are a minority. and a LOT of people out there talk shit about how we should be liberal, they don't back it up when the time comes for it.
in a society that's mostly uneducated and moving backwards in time, it is an advantage for men to be in this situation.
we can talk about this more on messenger :)
I have been reading your blog for a while now. A few months to be precise. Never really bothered leaving a comment, but I am pleasantly surprised to see an arab, that too from what I can make a saud (No offence meant) thinking the way you do.
Honestly if the whole of the middle-east thought the way you think, it would make it such a beautiful place to live.
I was born and brought up in the UAE. Having spent most of my childhood in Abu Dhabi and my teenage years in Dubai I have seen and experienced most of the things you talk about. Obviously not to that extent as it is in Saudi Arabia.
I dont revisit a lot of blogs, actually I dont even visit a lot of blogs, but ive got yours bookmarked and make sure I read it whenever I get a chance. If you could change things with just a blog im sure you would have made life in the middle-east a million times better.
I dont even know the point of my post, maybe it is just that im glad to see that there are other people who feel the same way.
Keep writing dude !!
Oh yea, I actually stumbled upon your blog when I was googling bodybuilding. I only recently decided that enough was enough and that I need to start gymming. What started as an effort to lose fat and tone up body has now got me so excited that I now want to get as close as possible to a body builders physique.
Gym time feels like the only time that I am completely cut-off from the outside world. It is MY time.
Ok im drifting from the topic.
You take it easy and keep writing
Cheers
"thinking outside the box is taboo"
you know who thought outside the box? Galileo Galilei
congratulations, your society is 400 year behind the western world.
it's really interesting to compare the evolution of islam and christianity. christianity went through all the stages that you are going through. the greatest fear of christianity was that people were becoming literate and may start thinking for themselves and would not need the church anymore. same with you now, god forbid that you may find something outside the borders of your own country, some kind of a new way of living.
Sireesh,
thanks for the great comments. A comment doesn't have to have a point in it. you can just drop by and say hi. As long as i know that i have readers, i will keep on writing.
I truly do not believe in the whole "one man could change the world"... Usually, the people who made it in history did it because it was a crap shot. history will never tell you about the millions who failed. or the millions who had their lives taken away for trying, and failed miserably. I do not write here because i want to change the world or any of that shit. i really couldn't care less. I write cuz i'm bored. that's basically it.
As for bodybuilding, if you are doing this for yourself, and you love the feeling (which you look like you do from what you're saying), you're gonna do fine ;) .... everything comes with time, you just have to have the "passion".
Anonymous,
there are things that i really want to say here, but i can't... anyway, christianity did not have the connection to the outer world that we have today... eh, i don't want to talk more about this shit.. might get my head chopped off ;)

"hamad, one thing i don't get... why has nobody, ever, been able to come up with a solution to all of this? surely you are not the first generation that's not happy about the way things are..."
Just like what I said about this guy Abdullah Al-Qasimi and his book...this guy was talking about the same things 60 years ago!!!! thats why I said in my comment that those people are good in knocking down those ideas and making us blind to have their own way of thinking running everything...
Dont get me wrong I'm sure they are doin it for a good cause, at least to their way of understanding...what they dont get is that you can not force people to be perfect...Perfection for a whole nation is not real and will never be reached...its not even possible for human to be perfect!!! It is so damn normal to have a socity with good and bad people...They think that running after everyone in the malls making sure that nobody is dating or doing something wrong is so freakin stupid!!! like you will lead them to their right path by doin this!!!
Abdullah Al-Qasimi was once one of the students of one of the famous "Motawa" in Saudi...he realized that there was something wrong about the way those people think and he felt that he needed to say something...but they said that he became an atheist and crap like that...If you read his book you wont read anything that goes wrong or against Islam teachings...he said in his book that those poeple are trying to make us blind, freeze us, and kill our brains.
They kicked him out of the country...God bless him I have a lot of respect for this man for the fact that he published such a book back in the days...of course its illegal to have that book in here!!! :s WTF
bandar:
i don't suppose you can still get the book anywhere... and if you do... it will only be in arabi, right? it would have made some interesting reading!
bb q8
I dont know if you will read this since hamad posted a new post but you can still get it any where but Saudi...my friend just got a copy two weeks ago from Bahrain...he also told me that I could find it in a library there called AlAyam if I'm not mistaken...dont know if they have a translated one or not though.
